Setting Up the TazWire Node on the Inside:tazwirrouter.gif

1.)   Screw the small white antenna on to the end of the wireless Node (or the Wi-Fi Antenna Extension cable if you purchased one).

2.)   Plug the black electrical adapter into the DC port on the wireless Node.

3.)   We highly recommend using your own surge protector.  Look for a window in your home with fewer metals around the immediate outside for better performance.  Plug the black electric power supply into an outlet close to the window and place the wireless Node in or near the window.

4.)   Wait 30-minutes for the Node to configure before attempting to go on-line.  This would be a good time to restart your computer or turn it on.

About the TazWire Node:   There are three-green LED lights on the Node.

1.)   WLAN - Top Light:. The light will flash steady once the Node has configured itself.  The flashing WLAN light means that it is communicating with the network.  There are times when the WLAN light will not flash.  If it does not flash for more than 8-minutes, this is an indication that the power to the Node needs to be recycled or “Reset”.   To do this simply unplug the Node from the electricity for 30-seconds then re-plug it back into the electric and wait 30-minutes for it to reconfigure before going on-line.

2.)    Internet Port - Middle Light:   (NOTE:  The light will only come on if the Internet Port is being used by connecting to a computer or other device.)  Use the Internet Port with a Cat5e or Ethernet Cable to connect a laptop or desktop that does not have wireless capabilities.

3.)    Power - Bottom Light:    Always stays on.

Connecting Your Wireless Laptops and other Wireless Devices:

Please Note:  All computer devices are different and you should consult the manufactures instructions on how to turn on your wireless device prior to contacting TazWire Customer Support.

For built in wireless laptops and other Wi-Fi devices make sure your Wi-Fi device is enabled or turned on.  In Windows from the Start button click the "Connect To" link and "View Available Wireless Connections" on your wireless device.

The SSID or network name to connect to in most cases is the name of your community or your last name.  Although your computer will automatically warn you that it is an unsecure network, please note that know one can access or see your computer or what you are doing.  Our Nodes have a special built in security feature known as Access Point Isolation that will not allow this to happen.  Unsecure network means that anyone can surf the Internet until we block them.

Connecting Your PC Computer or Laptop without  Wireless Capabilities:

Take an Ethernet cable and plug one end into the Internet Port on the Node and the other end into the Ethernet Port on your computer or device.  Once you have connected the Ethernet cable at both ends, restart your computer.  This will enable your computer or device to get an IP address so that you can access the Internet.  Ethernet cables are also available at your local Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, etc.

The Internet Port on the Node can also be used to connect to an upload port on any other home device or router such as Linksys, Belkin, Netgear etc.
